Winged eyeliner can be a beauty trick in any woman’s arsenal as it is extremely easy to make. Liquid, cream and gel eyeliners can all be used to create this look with precision. When you add eyeshades to it, you can give your eyes a soft, finished look with no trouble at all.
Here are steps on how to apply winged eyeliner to your eyes easily and with precision:
Hold a mirror, or set it at chin level and then look down. If your hands are shaky, rest your elbows against a table. Drag the eyeliner (try using a pen liner) along your lash line, and past the top outer corner of your eye. Then follow the upward curve of your eye with eyeliner. If you want the dramatic winged look, extend your drawing further out and angle the eyeliner more prominently.
Now it is time to create the winged effect at the outer corners. Start at the outer corner of the line you just drew and work back toward your eye, using a light sketching technique with the pen in short strokes.
When you get closer to the inner lash line, make your drawing narrower. You want a thinner line so that the effect of the wing goes from thin to thick, from the inner corner of your eye to the outer corner.
Follow the natural shape of your eye and connect the liner to the inner corner of your eye. Fill in any missing spaces along the lash line. Repeat on your other eye and voilà, you’ve completed your winged eye liner!
Eyeliners can be a bit messy to use, especially if you’re naturally clumsy. Hence keep a q-tip and some lotion handy so that you can swipe away any messes you might make while practicing. However, practice does make perfect, so if you end up looking like a raccoon instead of a cat, don’t be discouraged. Swipe, clean and try again, and you would be winged and fabulous in no time.
