In Sunita’s words
“Hassan was working for an advertizing agency which organized a fashion show in Lahore. He saw me for the first time there. I didn’t meet him or know him at all then. We began talking over the phone when he started bugging me for my boarding pass. This back and forth and messaging went on for three months and we didn’t meet.
I was very impressed with him after finally meeting him. We were bonding well. I found him attractive; a good looking, tall and handsome man. We just clicked! We were hanging out often and his family knew me very well. We went out for five years until my brother, who used to live with me here in Karachi decided to move abroad. My family didn’t want me to live on my own and asked me to come back. I did’nt want to move back. During this time, marriage popped up. So, within two months, the date was fixed. Everyone in the fashion industry was very supportive, from organizing dholkis for me and sorting out my shaadi jora woes on an urgent basis.
We will be married for 9 years in May, InshAllah with two beautiful kids, Raakin and Zainah. We are a like every normal couple. Though we have our ups and downs, we try to sort out issues in a good way. We fight, but make sure not to fight too much! :)”
Sarwat Gillani & Fahad Mirza
SARWAT GILANI IS A DISTINGUISHED ACTRESS
Married 2 years
In Sarwat’s words
“We met at a theater play through a mutual friend (Fahad’s childhood friend). The thing about love is that you just know this is the one! It is the strongest and the most powerful feeling than any other in the world. Everything just feels right!
The ‘he-asked-me-to-marry-him’ moment came when he invited me to dinner with his friends to my favourite restaurant. When I reached there, I realized he had booked the entire restaurant and there were no friends, just the two of us!
We do crazy things for each other everyday, there isn’t any one in particular. One has to keep making an effort to keep the light of love glowing.
I remember, he once climbed a 20 feet wall, in the middle of the night and put up a ‘Be My Valentine’ banner on my main university building wall. (In case you are wondering which university? Indus Valley!)
Our life together is amazing, MA! If in a world of billions of souls you manage to find your soul mate, than Allah is really looking out for you.”

“As filmy as this may sound some things are just meant to be! Hina and I didn’t meet through common friends or school. We met through a random prank call set up by friends. For the longest time, we didn’t even know what the other looked like. We just hit off as friends talking over the phone till the wires began to heat up. (Yes! there were no cell phones back then). Not knowing the person makes it easier to open up; it makes sense why people go to therapy. Things were also much safer back then. I can’t imagine talking to a stranger today.
Hina and I became stronger friends as the years flew by. I was just sure that some day she would be mine. I still remember the first time we met, she had come with her gang and I had come with mine. Our friends hit it off instantly, but Hina was too shy to even say ‘Hello.’ Till today she blushes when I do those cheesy-romantic things! 🙂
Although, there was a lot of romance, but a huge proposal never came into play. We did it the traditional way, where my mother took an official proposal to her house. It took me 9 years of marriage and two beautiful kids to do my Bollywood proposal. I took her back to the first place we met, got down on one knee and proposed. Better late than never!”
Now, these were some really mushy love stories. Do you want to share your love story? We would love to hear! In the comments below please
